JDD would like to introduce 2 new instructors for the 2010 dance season
TANYA LASBY
Tanya is a graduate of the prestigious Music Theatre program at SheridanCollege and is thrilled to be back on the dance scene! Having started dance at the age of 4, Tanya has been the recipient of multiple dance scholarships and awards across Ontario. She has been a student and performer at Sheridan Theatre, a featured performer for Paramount Canada’s Wonderland, and has danced in many diverse settings from community shows to World Cultural Festivals. She is also a member of the accomplished tap group “Turn On The Tap” out of Toronto founded by the acclaimed Paula Skimin. She recently moved to St. John’s with her husband and son Hudson to continue to expand her creative base. Tanya is ecstatic to bring her unique experience to JDD!
DAVE GARDINER
AKA B-Boy Naga started B-Boying in 1998 and co-founded Atlantic Canada’s longest running B-Boy group, the Lokdown Crew. Dave has been a member of East Rock Crew (ERC) since 2006. Dave has produced a dance workshop tour in BC, "Funky Steppin" a street-dance instructional DVD and one of the 1st Breaking workshops in Atlantic Canada. As a dance teacher he hopes to see some of his students take the dance on as their own, go on to give great performances and win competitions.

NEW to the curriculum this season...
Explore the world of Broadway with this up beat and energetic class. Using Ballet, Jazz, Fosse, and Soft shoe, this class will focus on technique, character development, and performance. Select songs and choreography will be used from shows and movies like Sweet Charity, West Side Story, White Christmas, and Hairspray. This class is for the student who likes to perform. Ages 12 & Up. FESTIVAL OF NEW DANCE
September 16-25, 2010 Neighbourhood Dance Works celebrates 20 years of the Festival of New Dance. To celebrate we are bringing the very best in contemporary dance to St John's with innovative shows by treasured senior artists and exciting emerging talent.
Our line-up features stunning and provocative main stage presentations, a panel discussion featuring festival founders, workshops, public whirling demonstrations, and other special events. Please join us for 10 days of exciting and thought provoking, nonstop dance by some of Canada's most inspired choreographic talent.
We're so excited to annnouce our very own Andrea Tucker as one of the festival's feature choreographers!!

Living between worlds and in spheres of memory, where imaginations share a direct path; always and ever curved, rarely moving straight, or true. Andrea Tucker is a local dancer and choregrapher. This work premiered at the LSPU Hall in April 2010. It features local dancers Mark Bath and Tammy MacLeod.
