Jill Dreaddy  

Jill Dreaddy
Principal and Artistic Director of Jill Dreaddy DanceCo

Jill graduated from a professional dance teacher training college where she completed the Associate Exams in Modern Theater & Tap (ISTD) and Ballroom and Latin American (CDTA). As a dancer she has completed exams in Tap, Modern Theatre, Ballet, Ballroom, Latin American, and National. Jill has appeared on CBC television and the Juno Awards. As a dancer with EL Viento Flamenco, a Halifax based flamenco company, Jill has performed an Arts and Culture Centre tour across Newfoundland and Labrador and has also toured parts of Nova Scotia.

Her expertise in staging and dance has been sought after by many theatre and music groups, and she was hired as principal choreographer for Oliver! (1998), Princess and the Pea (2000), Evita (2001) and Gypsy (2007).

Jill’s knowledge of dance and its many forms, accompanied with her extensive experience, have taught her that ANYONE CAN DANCE!

Andrea Tucker  

Andrea Tucker

Andrea Tucker completed a two year professional dance teacher training program where she completed her Associates in Modern Theatre (ISTD), Tap (ISTD) and Ballroom (CDTA). This lead her to the Toronto Dance Theatre's professional program where she graduated in 2002. Since then she has danced, trained and taught in Vancouver, Japan and Australia. Her training based in Graham and Limon techniques along with elements of improvisation and basic body work has aided her artistic discovery and development. Andrea has been teaching at JDD since Sept. 2007. 
                                                                                                             

 
Dounia Hamoutene  

Dounia Hamoutene
                                                                                                                                                 Dounia was born in Algeria and started dancing as early as she could walk. In 1998, she arrived in Newfoundland to pursue her scientific research career. Nostalgia, love of music and a strong desire to share her heritage pushed Dounia to start teaching Algerian Belly Dancing in 2001. Dounia has been teaching at JDD since Sept. 2006.

 
Meranda Squires  

Meranda Squires
                                                                                                                                               Meranda has trained in a variety of yoga styles over 25 years and has practiced many spiritual disciplines. She has also studied and performed dance for 20 years. Meranda lived and studied in India for seventeen years and runs The Spiritual Center in St. John's.

  • certified teacher of Advanced Studies in Yog Sciences, Vedant Philosophy and the Theory and Practice of Meditation (The Himalayas, India)
  • certified SomaYoga Instructor (The SomaYoga Teaching Center, India)
  • certified Thai-yoga bodywork practitioner (International Thai Massage Institute, Thailand)
  • trained and certified Enlightenment Master and Spiritual Clearer and Counselor (Lawrence Noyes Seminars, Toronto, Canada)

 
Gillian Fisher

                                                                                                                                                     Ms. Fisher started dancing at the age of 4 with the McCulloch School of Dance in Ottawa, ON. Since completing her Associate exams in Step Dance and Highland Dance with the British Association of Teachers of Dancing, Ms. Fisher taught for 3 years at the McCulloch School of Dance. Gillian has performed Nationally and Internationally representing Canada at numerous folk festivals in Idaho, Puerto Rico and Disney World, Florida.

 
Corrina Dawe  

Corrina Dawe

Corrina Dawe, P.Ag., has a science degree from the university of Guelph. She began studying and practicing Iyengar Yoga in 1984 and began teaching classes in 1994. She has studied under a number of qualified resident and visiting instructors and continues to explore a deeper and gentler way of practising. Corrina brings a fresh approach to yoga class as she helps students to develop strength, flexibility and awareness based on the principles of Iyengar Yoga.

 
Matthew Power  

Matthew Power

Matthew Power has been b-boyin for 5 years, in 2005 he helped co-found Newfoundland and Labrador's premier breakin group, East Rock Crew. Through ERC, Matthew has performed and competed in myriad of Atlantic and National Events. Such events include: The Canadian Dance festival: Hip Hop 360, The Labrador Creative Arts Festival, Ottawa House of Paint 07', Kings Of The East 06' and 07', St. John's Festival of New Dance 06' and 07'. Matthew also just return from touring NL where taught the youth of Newfoundland and Labrador the art b-boyin/b-girlin and educated them on the forms of hip hop. Matthew is currently managing ERC and has been teaching at JDD since Sept. 2007.
